Sekondi Oct.27, -GNA-Mr Peter Mac Manu, Western Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), on Thursday said the party is a liberal democratic party and all its members and supporters should understand this.

He was launching his regional campaign for the national chairmanship of the party at Sekondi.

Mr Manu said one of his first tasks when elected to the position is to institute periodic education of executives and members of the party on Liberal democracy and sensitive policies and the constitution of the party.

He said some executives and members are not well informed of these issues and are, therefore, not able to better explain them to the public.

Mr Manu said he wants to put his experience in modern political organisation and strategy formulation at the disposal of the party. He said, "Our great party is at crossroads and as a medium and long-term measure, I have a vision to transform the party into a modern-day political party by revitalizing all her component structures and organs".

Mr Manu added, "My mission is to invigorate the election machinery and to rekindle the enthusiasm and commitment of all our members, supporters and sympathizers in order to achieve convincing victory in 2008 Presidential and Parliamentary elections".
