* 118 chairpersons poised to 'disembark'
* Say even loyal dogs sometimes bite their masters
SOME 188 polling station chairpersons in the Ho Central constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have threatened to resist any attempt to dissolve the current constituency executive.
They said they would consider such action as direct attack on their integrity and would act appropriately.
"Any attempt to suspend or dismiss or take any so-called disciplinary action against our executives would be viewed as a direct attack on our collective wisdom and integrity and shall result in a mass exodus of all 188 polling station executive and we promise just that", they warned at a press conference at Ho on Tuesday.
"After all a dog can bite its owner when the need arises," they said in their statement signed on their behalf by Mr. A.K. Dumoga and Mr. Paul Aba chairmen for Ahoe Market Square and OLA Secondary School polling stations respectively.
They called on the national executive committee, particularly Mr. Dan Botwe, the General Secretary, to clarify the situation about the state of the constituency since their prolonged silence was not in the interest of the party.
The aggrieved party activists said they had become tired and frustrated by the series of interruptions visited on them from the top since the beginning of last year.
"We, as polling station chairpersons in the constituency, who constitute congress, the highest decision-making body at our level, have therefore come forward to rescue the constituency from the sharks and hawks in the party," the statement said.
They said the constituency election held on July 2 was transparent and it was improper for the regional chairman, Kenwood Nuworsu to declare it null and void.
They were of the view that the current executives, led by Mr. Seth Anyadi, are performing efficiently and they described as false the regional chairman's claim that the contestants and delegates boycotted the election.
According to them out of the 118 delegates, who qualified to vote 99, representing 84% voter turnout, were present and exercised their franchise with none of the 24 contestants withdrawing their nominations.
The executive committees noted that due process was followed during the election when the Interim Management Committee (IMC) opened nominations for any party member with good standing to file their nominations.
They challenged the regional chairman to make available proof of service that suggested that any of the contestants was suspended prior to the election.
The executive committee also accused Mr. Nuworsu of being instrumental in the removal of Mr. Agbo as the chairman of the Avenor constituency and as such had not made any effort at uniting members of the party.
They said the regional chairman was only bent on "frustrating and humiliating" hardworking party members, whose efforts he did not recognize.
