Seven Executive Members of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) in Wa in the Upper West Region have resigned from the party, citing lack of leadership.

The executives from both constituency and regional level of the party said they could no longer tolerate what they described as “one man party” leadership skills portrayed by the PPP in the region.

The executives are Suleiman Sufuyan, Wa Central Chairman; Alhaji Zakari, Vice Wa Central Chairman; and Abdulai Jalilu, Wa Central Constituency secretary.

Others include Alhassan Nizoomdeen, Regional Organizer; Ahmed Mustapha, Regional Youth Organizer; Alhassan Abubakari; Deputy Youth Organizer and Abdul-Salam Badiu, Deputy Regional Secretary.

Mr Jaliu who was the Wa Central Constituency Secretary until the resignation at a news conference said the PPP is leaderless hence things are not going on well.

He alleged that the party’s account has been held by one single person which makes its operations difficult and that they would no longer be part of the party.

“As we are stating, the party is holding an election, but it’ll surprise you that everything has been locked up. Monies that have been paid by the candidates for this election has been locked in the bank account of the leader of the party, for the past three months we have been begging, I go there every day to see children sitting in the bank begging them.

“Can you see a political party with a Constituency account for many years without a mandate? No signatories. One person is holding and leadership is quite aware of that. We cannot continue to belong to a party without leadership,” he declared.

He said they would soon announce the party they would be joining.
