Mfantseman East NDC elects officers

Ekumfi Eyisam (C/R), Dec 9, GNA - The Mfantseman East Constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has elected a 14-member executive to run its affairs for the next two years at a delegates' congress at Ekumfi Eyisam near Mankessim.

Mr Kwame Nkrumah retained the post of Chairman, James Eghan was voted the Vice Chairman with Alex Fiifi Essuman and Samuel Appiah-Kubi as Secretary and Assistant Secretary respectively. Michael Aidoo was elected Organizer with Mohammed Yakubu as the Deputy Organiser.

The other officers were Kojo Sam Anderson, Treasurer, Frank Etrue Hayford, Assistant Treasurer, Nurudeen Otoo, Youth Organizer, Emmanuel Akwandoh, Assistant Youth Organizer, Serah Anderson, Women's Organiser, Martha Appiah, Assistant Women's Organizer, Samuel Sam, Propaganda Secretary and Anthony Nyame, Assistant Propaganda Secretary.

Mr George Kuntu Blankson, the Member of Parliament for the area, appealed to party members to desist from actions and utterances that could be used as campaign message against the party by its opponents in the next general. "We must not sell the party to its opponents", he urged. He assured Ghanaians that the government of President John Atta Mills would surely deliver therefore they should not entertain any fears about their future

Mr light Koomson, Ajumako Enyan Essiam District Chief Executive, invited suggestions and views from party members on amendment of the Party's Constitution for consideration at national Congress at Tamale next year. Mr Henry Kweku Hayfron, Mfantseman Municipal Chief Executive, cautioned members and supporters to be wary about the propaganda machinery put in place by the party's opponents to discredit the government and its functionaries.

"We have seen what they were able to do, they should allow us to perform for the people to compare the two", he said. Mr Abeiku Crentsil, a defeated contestant for the position of the Constituency Chairman, advised all losing contestants to accept the decision of the delegates and rally behind the executives to make the constituency "a no-go area" for the NPP.

"The beauty of democracy is to accept decision of the electorate in an election," he said.

Mr Nkrumah expressed gratitude to the delegates for the confidence reposed in them and appealed to every supporter to join forces to work hard to retain the seat in the 2012 general election. 09 Dec 09
