Komenda (C/R), May 19, GNA - Dr Joseph Annan, Deputy Minister of Education, has said the survival of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2012 elections will depend on party executives and faithfuls. They should therefore eschew all petty squabbles, unite and work hard to return the party to power in the next elections.
Dr Annan who is the Member of Parliament (MP) for Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem Constituency, was addressing party executives in the Constituency at Komenda. The meeting under the theme "The Way Forward", was organised to iron out differences among the rank and file and the party's executives. The Deputy Minister stated that the party was bigger than any member and said in any action they should place the interest of the party above their personal interest.
"We all sacrificed for the victory of the party in 2008 and if we want NDC to retain power we should bury our differences and work together as a team to chalk victory in 2012". He urged members to think of what they could do for the party and not the benefit they will derive from the party, adding that stomach politics should be a thing of the past.
Mr Kwesi Badu, an executive member of the party, said the target for the 2012 election could not be achieved without hard work and sacrifice. Mr Kojo Mbir, a Member of the National Premix Committee, commended the government for initiating a good policy for the sale of Premix fuel to fishermen. Earlier, some executive members had alleged that there was no unity in the constituency and appealed to the Chairman, Mr Michael Asmah, to spare no effort to iron out differences among the rank and file. In another development, Dr Annan interacted with Queen Mothers and promised to assist them to initiate a programme to fight teenage pregnancy and HIV/AIDS in the Constituency.
