Accra, March 27, GNA- Mr. Elikplim Yayra Akotia, Registration Officer at the New Life School centre at Achimota on Saturday said a number of minors walked in to register but after interrogation they left and never came back.
"Their demeanour always gives them away. Upon the demand of their birth certificates they go and do not return" he added.
He said this was one major problem they encountered at the centre adding that apart from that the exercise had gone on smoothly. Mr. Akotia said the Electoral Commission (EC) always supplied them with materials when the need arose, adding: "There has been no problem so far"
He said 1,326 eligible voters had so far registered, and expressed the hope that the number would increase considerably by the end of the registration exercise on Monday, March 29, 2004.
