Deputy Eastern Regional Minister, Ms Mavis Ama Frimpong, has picked nomination forms to contest the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primary in the Abirem Constituency of the Birim North District.
Party supporters including the District Chief Executive, Mr Paul Aboagy Dadzie, and family members accompanied her in a procession amid brass band music to the party office to pick the form.
Presenting the nomination forms to Ms Frimpong after paying Gh¢ 1,000.00, Mr Charles Ampomah, the Constituency Secretary, said the Deputy Regional Minister was the first person to pick her form to contest the parliamentary primary and urged the party supports to give her the needed support to win the constituency primary and subsequently the parliamentary election.
Ms Frimpong commended the party supporters for their turnout and urged them to intensify their campaign devoid of insults and any negative practices to ensure victory for the party in the forthcoming presidential and parliamentary elections.
She said the district was one of the fastest growing districts in the country in terms of infrastructure development and, therefore, needed an experienced person with leadership qualities to complete all projects to enhance the living standards of the people.
Ms Frimpong said the Government had done a lot for the constituency in the education, health, water and road sectors which included the construction and tarring of the 17 kilometer Noyem-Amoah road and the Old Abirem-Kade road and gave the assurance that the New Abirem to Nkawkaw road would soon be awarded on contract.
She urged the constituency leadership to welcome any member of the party who wished to contest the party parliamentary primaries on the ticket of the NDC.
