Forikrom (B/A), Sept 6, GNA - Mr Pierre Kwabena Ankomah, Techiman Municipal Director of the National Commission for Civic Education, has called on municipal and district chief executives to be circumspect in the selection of government appointees to the assemblies and unit committees.

He said the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief executives should have to ensure that they, together with the traditional rulers and other stakeholders, put their heads together in the selection of appointees.

Mr Ankomah said this when addressing the chiefs and people of Forikrom in the Techiman municipality as part of a programme to educate the people on the local government system and social auditing. It was organized by the NCCE in collaboration with the Government Accountability Improved Trust (GAIT) of the Cooperative League of USA (CLUSA), a Techiman based non-governmental organization (NGO).

Mr Ankomah deplored the existing procedure whereby party officials sit in party offices only to come out with names of government appointees to these local government institutions without the knowledge of traditional authorities.
