The District Director of elections for the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Gushegu constituency of the Northern Region, Abdul Gafaru Seidu Kanayo has resigned from his post following the removal of the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area Alhaji Alhassan Fuseini.

Mr. Kanayo has threatened to ensure that the party loses votes in the area if the DCE is not immediately reinstated.

There is currently raw anger and discomfort among party loyalists in the constituency over

President Mahama’s recent reshuffle that included the removal of the DCE for the area.

He said the MP was haunting the former DCE because he contested him in the party parliamentary primaries.

“I am a loyal supporter of the DCE and whatever he said is what we’re going to do. I was Election Director for Gushegu but I have resigned because I will not campaign for the MP today or tomorrow. We cannot sit down and allow some individuals in the constituency to just do whatever they like”.

“We will not accept it today. The President has the authority to appoint but this time he got it all wrong”, Mr. Kanayo angrily asserted.

Mr. Gafaru Kanayo also convener for a group calling itself Concerned NDC Youth of Gushegu and Friends of Hon.Alhaji Alhassan Fuseini told Ultimate News the group would cause the defeat of the party if the leadership fails to heed to their petition

“We have petitioned the Regional Executives, the Regional Minister and we are even sending the petition to the presidency and even the local government ministry, and, I bet you we don’t get any positive response from the presidency they should forget about Gushegu seat”, he cautioned.
