NDC Warned against dirty campaign

A leading member of the NDC in Kumasi , Nana Osei Akoto Kuffuor has appealed to the campaign teams of the three aspiring candidates contesting the party’ s July flagbearer race at Sunynni to stay-away from smear campaign and acts of destructive tendencies to enable the party remain united and a winsome side for the 2012 elections after the congress.

H e noted that the recent developments in the party where two persons have picked forms to challenge the sitting president is unprecedented in the history of the party but amounted to internal democracy.

He however warned that people belonging to the various campaign teams of the contenders should not take an advantage of the situation to castigate or malign any of the contestants because all the contestants are helping to deepen democratic principles in the party .

“I wish to entreat members of the various campaign teams to exercise much decorum and avoid a campaign of maligning each other in order for us to remain united after the congress ,” . he appealed .

Nana Akoto Kuffuor who contested the Bantama constituency for NDC in 2008 told this paper in an interview that , the leadership of NDC has proven the opposition wrong that the NDC was founded on a dictatorship principles and as a result no body will be allowed to contest the sitting president.

. “ There is no need for us to wash our dirty linen before our opponents , our behaviours towards each other during and after the congress is very important for the opposition because they are looking for our bad side to make their key Campaign issues since they have nothing new to tell Ghanaians, ’’ Nana Akoto Kuffuor said

He appealed to leadership of all the political parties in Ghana to educate their followers on the need to tolerate the views of other s devoid of raining insults on each other stressing, the situation where politics of insult has become the order of the day is not setting any good analogy for the up coming generation .

“ As politicians of different persuasions , we must always strive hard to set good precedent in our political activities to create co - existence atmosphere for all to entrench our multi - party democracy , we are all Ghanaians who are seeking the interest of the country ,’ he said .

He was convinced that the NDC would emerge from the congress more united than ever after Sunyani to retain power in 2012 and urged all the ranks and files of the party to girdle up their loins to match the task ahead of them by achieving the ultimate goal of retaining power come 2012 .
