NDC defector urges dissatisfied members to quit party without fear.

Aflao, Jan 22, GNA - A former National Democratic Party (NDC) activist has asked dissatisfied members of the party willing to join other parties to do so without fear of reprisals.

He said one was free to join or support the political party of his or her choice without looking back at what people would say since there was total freedom of association in the country.

Mr Seth Philson-Darku, a former Ketu-South Constituency Organizer of the NDC, was speaking at a get-together of the Aflao Zone of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) polling station executives. He said the NDC was rift-torn and on the brink of collapse and therefore not worth hanging on to.

About 300 members attended with delegations from other zones including Mr Johnson Avulete, Volta Regional Organizer of the party. Mr Philson-Darku urged people in the Ketu-South constituency in particular and the Volta Region in general to change the voting pattern in the area in the 2008 elections to end the attachment of the region to one particular party.

He said he now preferred the liberal atmosphere that characterized the organization of affairs in the NPP to the subtle and sometimes dictatorial nature of things within the NDC. Mr Samuel Seshie, Coordinating Secretary for polling station executives, called for support and reward for executives of the party at the bottom of the political structure as they were the pillars on which the NPP stood.

He commended the government for implementing the health insurance scheme, fee-free child delivery services and the capitation policy in education that would go a long way to ease the poverty situation among Ghanaians.

Me Seshie called for hard work and logistic support for the party at all levels to enable it win the elections in 2008. Mr Anthony Ayivor, Ketu-South Constituency Chairman, expressed regret over the refusal of Mr Justice Cudjoe, Ketu District Chief Executive, to collaborate with party executives in the constituency. He accused him failing to attend all meetings the constituency party executives invited him to and also for shunning the executives when they visited him in his office.
