Accra, Oct. 20 GNA - The Functional Executive Committee (FEC) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has endorsed Mr Dwamena Bekoe as the Party's Parliamentary Candidate for the Asuogyaman Constituency in Election 2004.

A statement issued in Accra on Wednesday and signed by Mr Bede Ziedeng, Deputy General Secretary-Operations, said the FEC at its meeting on September 18 considered the papers of the two candidates, Mr Mustapha Kofi Fiadzigbe and Mr Bekoe, who filed to contest the primaries in the Asuogyaman Constituency.

It said the FEC also considered the vetting reports of the constituency and Region and the subsequent primaries, which elected Mr Bekoe as the parliamentary candidate for Asuogyaman Constituency. The statement said the FEC took notice of the fact that Mr Fiadzigbe walked out of the vetting committee meeting and refused to subject himself to the vetting process as outlined by the guidelines of the Party.

"Meticulous investigations by the Headquarters have established that Mr Fiadzigbe failed to meet an important laid down criterion for the election of our Party's Parliamentary candidates and, therefore, cannot qualify to contest on the ticket of the NDC." The FEC has consequently endorsed the candidature of Mr Bekoe to contest for the Asuogyaman Constituency Seat. 20 Oct. 04
