A New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Chairman aspirant has asserted that the National Democratic Congress (NDC), throughout its 34-year history of governance, lacks a tangible record of impactful policy implementation.

The aspirant, Kankam Boadu, claimed that from its origins as the Armed Forces Revolutionary Council (AFRC) and later the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC) to its current form as the NDC, the party has not implemented any policy with a significant, positive effect on the lives of Ghanaians.

During an appearance on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5 FM, he contended that all the transformative policies and initiatives that have genuinely improved the country and the living conditions of its citizens were implemented by the NPP.

He dismissed arguments that the NDC’s record should be viewed through different dispensations, stating that it is the same party with a consistent ideology.

“It is not about dispensations; it is about leadership,” he stated.

“They have governed this country for approximately 34 years, yet if you examine all the major projects and the most crucial policies that have had a positive impact on human life in Ghana, they were implemented by the NPP.

"One might then ask why the NDC continues to win elections. The reason is that the NPP is the only political party that, after campaigning so hard and winning power, fails to hold onto it, allowing the NDC to oust us.”

He told host Kwabena Agyapong that internal conflicts and petty disputes within the NPP make it easy for the party to return to opposition.

Kankam Baidu lamented that the NPP has devolved into a “boxing association,” with members constantly fighting each other.

He warned that unless the party elects a unifying figure as chairman, it will remain in opposition.

He presented himself as the only candidate possessing the humility, spirit of forgiveness, and skills necessary to unite the party.

The politician assured party members that his primary focus in contesting for the chairmanship is to restore discipline and unity, with the ultimate goal of returning the party to power in 2028.
