Apam, Nov. 1, GNA - Mr Kofi Mintah, a founding member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has appealed to the National Executive of the party to amend the party's constitution to create a position for founding members.
He told the GNA in an interview that it was absurd for the founding members, who are the owners of the party, to be sidelined and appealed to the National Executive to ensure that this was corrected at the next congress of the party. Founding members are members of the party, each from a constituency, who endorsed the form used for the formation of the party. Mr Mintah appealed to the founding members to form a formidable association to champion the course of the party and also to fight for their rights in the party.
He reminded the party hierarchy that party executives at any level could be changed at any time when they lost elections but founding members could not be changed until dissolution of the party. Mr Mintah called for restructuring of the party's structures with their functions well defined to bring discipline into the party. He said the indiscipline rearing its head in the party was the result of supporters not knowing who should do what. Mr Mintah appealed to the executives to control the springing up of mushroom associations and groupings within the party to prevent infiltration of opponents into their fold.
