The National Zongo Caucus wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) successfully conducted a pioneering training and orientation program for the newly appointed national executives, directorate members, committee members, and regional Zongo caucus coordinators.
This first-of-its-kind training was honored by the presence of esteemed leaders within the Zongos, including the National Chief Imam, the Imam of Ahlil Sunnah, the Deputy Imam of the Shia Community in Ghana, a representative of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission, and members of the Council of Muslim Chiefs, among others.
The two-day orientation program, chaired by the national chairman of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, featured addresses from notable speakers such as the Chairman of the Council of Elders, Alhaji Mahama Iddrisu; Alhaji Hudu Yahya; the National Zongo Caucus Coordinator, Alhaji Mohammed Mamah; Hon. Haruna Iddrisu; Hon. Mutaka Mubarak; and Hon. Collins Dauda.
The training took participants, comprising all 16 regional Zongo caucus coordinators and all appointees of the Zongo Caucus wing, through the intricacies of policing the ballot and strategies to educate the Ghanaian electorate on the NDC’s policies for the Zongos. Various speakers emphasized the need for hard work to rescue the country from the NPP.
The National Coordinator of the Zongo Caucus, Alhaji Mohammed Mamah, also known as Cole Younger, assured traditional and religious leaders of the NDC’s unwavering commitment to the Zongos, evidenced by the numerous tangible projects successive NDC governments have delivered for these communities.
He declared that the era of “cheap politics” of rice and sugar is over, thanks to the transformational policies outlined by NDC flag bearer John Dramani Mahama.
