NDC promises to capture all parliamentary seats in UE region

Bolgatanga, Nov. 13, GNA - Alhaji Mumuni Bolnaba, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Upper East Regional Chairman-elect, has promised to work hard to capture all parliamentary seats in the 13 constituencies in the region.

Retaining his position with 79 votes to beat two other contestants, Dr Robert Akuganaba and Adambire Solomon, who had 21 and 13 votes respectively, Alhaji Bolnaba said come 2012, all the seats in the region will come to NDC. Speaking with the Ghana News Agency after the election in Bolgatanga on Friday, he said, his tenure would ensure that party offices were opened in all the 13 constituencies.

He also promised to build the capacity of the constituency executives to intensify campaigns to win more members to the party to make the vision a reality.

Alhaji Bolnaba urged colleague executives and party supporters to bury their differences in order to start working hard for 2012 elections. He said his administration would create an open door policy to welcome good suggestions that would help the progress of the party. Alhaji Bolnaba again said he would create avenues for more women to contest the parliamentary seats and urged women to be bold and come out to contest when the time comes.

He thanked all the delegates for the confidence reposed in him and pledged that he would not let them down.

The Upper East Regional Minister, Mark Woyongo appealed to party members to see the NDC as a party greater than their individual interests. He said Ghanaians would start reaping the benefits of the economy by next year and urged people to exercise maximum restraint. Mr Adagburi Asinvim was elected the party's Regional first Vice Chairman with 78 votes; Mr Robert Apasenaba secured 70 votes to become the Regional Second Vice Chairman, Mr Donatus Akamugri retained the Regional Secretary position with 68 votes.

Mr James Abanka was elected unopposed as the Deputy Regional Secretary, Alhaji Issah Wudu got 62 to become Regional Treasurer and Mohammed Mashood was elected unopposed as the Deputy Regional Treasurer. The Regional Organizer went to Mr Baba Kumasi with 64 votes, Mr Issaka Haruna was elected unopposed as the Deputy Organizer, the Propaganda Secretary went to Mr Bernard Bougzo with 81 votes and Saed Ahmed emerged as the Deputy Propaganda Secretary with 39 votes.
