The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has conducted a symposium in Tamale to inform party supporters about the 24-hour economy proposal, which was announced by former President John Mahama, the party's flagbearer for this year's elections.
The event, organized in collaboration with the Movement for Youth Development-Ghana, saw attendance from the party’s youth leaders, serial callers, communicators, executives, TEIN members, and some supporters.
George Opare Addo, the National Youth Organizer for the NDC, stated that the 24-hour economy would expand productivity from daytime into nighttime, providing opportunities for unemployed youth, business owners, and consumers to work.
He claimed it would be a game-changer, offering long-term benefits and engaging many unemployed youths to earn decent incomes.
"The policy is an economic model that the NDC government intends to implement, supporting 24-hour operations of businesses, factories, chop bars, government services, healthcare delivery, banking, and other services day and night.
It aims to increase employee productivity and reduce long queues at banks, hospitals, and other places," he explained.
Opare Addo urged citizens to support the NDC flagbearer to alleviate the current hardships imposed by the NPP government.
Lansah Haruna, Executive Director of the Movement for Youth Development-Ghana, described the 24-hour economy proposal as a transformational policy deserving widespread support.
"It is our hope that this initiative by the NDC will set a precedent for all parties to promote and enhance the quality of political discourse in Ghana," he said.
Alhaji Adolf Mburidiba, the Northern Regional Chairman of the NDC, encouraged party members and youth groups to advocate for the 24-hour economy.
