The national organiser of the NDC has described as laughable, claims by the largest opposition party, NPP, that government is waiting for them to launch their manifesto in order to steal ideas.
Mr Adams said NDC’s track record is solid and verifiable and not interested in stealing anyone’s ideas.
“The party is focused and knows beneficiaries of the numerous projects are feeling the impact, something government believes will translate into votes for a convincing victory in the presidential elections,” Adams told OKAY FM.
It will be recalled that the campaign manager of the NPP Peter Mac Manu told a gathering of NPP supporters over the weekend that the party will not unveil its manifesto anytime soon because it fears the ruling party will steal its ideas.
Mr Adams said John Mahama launched the Green Book with pictures showing what he has done, Nana Addo described them as artistic impressions.
“I don’t know if it’s about the Police Hospital in Accra, the Maritime Hospital in Tema, the Dodowa Hospital, the Ridge Hospital, the University of Ghana Medical School or the Kwame Nkrumah Interchange, the Kasoa Interchange and Komenda Sugar Factory, the commissioned Adomi Bridge, the expansion works at the Kotoka International Airport, the Tamale and Ho Airports, the University of Health and Allied Science, the regional hospitals in Wa and Tamale, and even the water treatment plant that has improved supply to Nana Addo’s hometown just to say a few. Yet till date, the party has not been able to dispute any of the numerous projects mentioned,” Mr Adams argued.
“Most Ghanaians knew the situation in the country under the NPP regime. I remember those in Accra raised a lot of concerns about access to potable water. People used to carry yellow gallons tagged “Kufuor Gallons” over long distances. Today it’s a thing of the past. Those homes which have taps flowing will acknowledge the change. Has there been improvement in their lives? Yes. Parents who had become weather forecasters just to ensure their wards stay away from school during rainstorms are happy because over 4,000 schools under trees have been replaced. Several health facilities, massive investments being added which will not only give hope to the sick but help train and employ doctors, nurses and other paramedical staff as well as opportunities for health service providers are there for all to see,” he added.
Mr Adams said Mac Manu who comes from the Western region is aware of the Port expansion project. He said the NPP Campaign Manager knows the broken down rail lines are being repaired.
“Under their regime, they sold the railings as scrap. We are fixing the mess they left behind and the Railway Company will bounce back. The one billion dollar Atuabo Gas project which has help to ease the power crisis and frequent LPG shortages is there. The massive road infrastructure projects across the country are there for all to see.”
On NPP’s mantra that everything has collapsed and the economy is in crisis, Mr Adams said Ghana has never recorded a negative growth in GDP. He explained further that Ghana is far ahead of Cote D’Iviore, Nigeria and other countries in terms of electricity coverage, access to education among other indicators, contrary to what Nana Addo and the NPP want Ghanaians to believe.
“They must stop the lies. Nana Addo told Ghanaians outside the country that we import plantain when he knows very well it’s a seasonal crop like yam, tomatoes, mangoes, watermelon, oranges and so on. Nana Addo lied that government spent 10 million dollars on Presidential diaries. He has failed to apologize when he was exposed. He lied about the Ridge Hospital project, he was exposed by his own MP yet he continues to mislead the public,” he noted.
