Koforidua, Sept. 3, GNA - The Executive committee of the National Democratic Congress in the New Juaben North have withdrawn the parliamentary nominee for the constituency, Mr Joshua Atta-Mensah. In a press release signed by the Constituency Chairman, Mr Owusu Boahene Koduro and the Secretary, Mr Akwasi Opare, the constituency leadership accused Mr Atta-Mensah of failing to provide resources and plans for his campaign towards the elections since his nomination in February this year.
The release said instead of helping to procure the necessary resources for the Party's campaign, Mr Atta-Mensah had resorted to playing the "blame game" to sow seeds of disunity among members of the executive committee and the rank and file. It said Mr Atta-Mensah had resorted to media vilification of some members of the Party and constituency executives, "to the extent that detractors of the Party were taking advantage of the issue to the disadvantage of the Party".
The constituency executive and delegates of the Party have therefore lost confidence in Mr Atta-Mensah and resolved that he should be withdrawn as the parliamentary candidate of the Party for New Juaben North for the 2008 elections, the statement added. Reacting to the information that a vote of no confidence had been passed on him and his candidature, Mr Atta-Mensah said he had not received any letter from the constituency to that effect. He said such an action would be an infringement on the NDC constitution and that he would study the situation and respond appropriately.
