The British High Commission in Accra gave a rousing farewell to a group of 15 Ghanaian business people before they left on an outward trade mission to the United Kingdom last week.
Describing the mission as a "first for Ghana", Kevin Lynch, 1st Secretary Commercial at the High Commission, said, "Ghana is frequently the destination for groups of business people from the UK and we are delighted for once to reverse that trend. We are especially happy since this pioneering group contains three businesswomen who are set on expanding their already established business by looking for further opportunities in Britain."
Making the point that some members of the mission were looking for export opportunities to the UK, Mr. Lynch explained that the British government positively encouraged such initiatives since they frequently resulted in a two-way flow of goods and services between the two countries to the benefit of both.
The trade mission left for the UK on 14 October for a two-week visit. It is organised by the Ghana British Chamber of Commerce & Industry (GBCCI) which was established in 1999 to promote bilateral trade between the two countries.
