A national youth organizer hopeful, of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Alhassan Abdul Ganiyu has called for the dismissal of the Metropolitan Chief Executive Officer of Tamale.

Alhassan, in a statement released on Thursday 8th March 2018 accused the MCE, Mustapha Superior of using his office to campaign for another candidate, a situation he described as "unfortunate"

Alhassan Abdul Ganiyu appealed to the President and executives of the NPP to remove the Musah Superior from office.

Below is the statement:

PRESS RELEASE

Today is a sad day for democracy of NPP! For someone to use his office to campaign for a candidate is not only an abuse of power but a disrespect to the President who appointed him.

The Metro Chief Executive Officer has a significant role in promoting good democratic governance. This is mainly seen in the way the Chief Executive Officer helps the council and councilors govern effectively.

I together with my team are saddened to read from the wall of Musah Superior, the mayor for Tamale Metro, displaying flyer of Mr. Kamal to the effect that he supports him. The content of the flyer reads: "I AM FOR KAMAL". I together with my team, TeamGhandi, in the strongest of words wish to state unequivocally our disappointment in the conduct of Mr. Superior. We wish to remind him if he has forgotten that, his office goes beyond the structure in Tamale Metro that he occupies to Facebook accounts and other media accounts sanctioned by him. For which reason, anything said or written on these platforms are official and should be taken seriously.

Sadly, Tamale Metro in recent times have had series of issues ranging from security threats to unending irregular power outages. Rationally, one would have thought that the mayor would assiduously be working with relevant stakeholders to resolve these challenges amicably. Unfortunately, he's on social media abusing his office and betraying the very trust reposed in him by HE President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo.

His post does not only show how irresponsible the mayor is but arrogance towards, and disrespect for authority!

We do not and can not gag the mayor from having a choice of who leads the youth front, but that should be done in the right manner_ through the ballot.

We certainly can not live with a leader who prefers some over others. Our message is simple; Hon Musah Superior must be relieved of his post. He must be dismissed immediately! He lacks the spirit to unite and cannot continue to be a leader.

Assuming all mayors and government appointees were engaged in this, would you not think that would privilege others? The mayor must pay for his reckless post!

We end with the quotation from the president, H. E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, in his 61st Independence address "Our leaders must educate our youth to be selfless, loyal, committed and dedicated to the struggle of putting strategic measures in place to save the future of our country by being vociferous on the wrongs in society and not necessarily reducing their thoughts and actions to hypocrisy and sycophancy. Let's be Proud of our success story!"

We are very confident in the leadership of the president and we believe he will stand by his words. Thank you!

Signed: National Youth Organizer Hopeful Alhassan Abdul Ganiyu
