Ghanaians residing in neighboring countries should no more have a problem entering the country on the day of the general elections in 2008. The NPP government after passing ROPAB into law will not dare to close the nation’s borders again on the day of elections.

This declaration was made last Saturday by the NDC General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia while addressing a forum organized by the Ho Polytechnic TEIN.

The General Secretary stated that the passage of the law means that the NPP government has no business closing borders to prevent Ghanaians desirous of using their own resources to enter the country to vote on the day of election.

A massive gathering of students had thronged the Ho Polytechnic auditorium to take part in a Forum organized by the Ho Polytechnic TEIN to address the NDC’s preparations towards the 2008 elections.

Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia also stated that the NPP government has failed to provide the EC with the necessary financial wherewithal to undertake the registration of voters.

“From all intents and purposes, the EC is going to have a torrid time doing so because new photo cameras have to be secured since the government failed to allocate monies in time for the EC to secure the Polaroid films used by the existing analog cameras of the Commission ”

The NDC Chief scribe explained that the only company that produces those films has now gone out of business.

He also announced that the NPP should brace itself up for more disturbing news since the NDC is going to undertake more massive fund raising exercises in other parts of the US , Europe and all over the world where supporters of the NDC are wiling to raise funds to help the party.

“We will continue to do so legitimately and there is nothing anybody can do about it. It has nothing to do with the FBI, or the EC and least of all with the NPP- a party that is on record as having been funded from questionable sources in the last General elections.

The NDC General Secretary wondered what the NPP was screaming about when it is on record that Hon Amoateng used drugs money to substantially finance the NPP especially in the Brong Ahafo region and another MP is currently wanted in the US for stealing about 1 million dollars to finance the NPP in 2004.

The Forum was heavily attended by members of the NDC national and regional executives as well as MPs.

Other key speakers included Hon Alban Bagbin the Minority Leader, Ama Benyiwa Doe, the Women Organiser, Fifi Kwetey the party’s chief spokesman, Haruna Iddrisu, the party’s Youth Organiser and his first deputy, Ludwig Hlordze.
