The National Security Minister, Albert Kan Dapaah has been warned against his alleged influencing of the processes of nominating a District Chief Executive (DCE) in the Afigya Kwabre District of the Ashanti Region.
Youth of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the constituency have called the National Security Minister to stay away from all political appointments in the constituency on will incur their wrath in default.
They have accused him of pushing only his favorites into all juicy positions anytime NPP is in government due to his association with the party’s appointments committee.
The party’s youth want President Akufo-Addo to reward a qualified and competent party member with the DCE position urging the President to ignore Kan Dapaah’s favourite and nephew Akwasi Karikari Acheamfour who has also shown keen interest in the position.
The district was created in 2007 with Akwasi Karikari Acheamfour assuming office as the first DCE before NPP lost power to National Democratic Congress (NDC) and therefore they believe he has had his turn and should not be considered again.
The youth have also sent a stern warning to the chiefs in the district to stop their open endorsement of the MP’s nephew as the best candidate because they are barred from engaging in active politics.
“We want someone who sacrificed his time when the party was in opposition” the youth President, Vincent Arthur said.
Meanwhile, Mr Albert Kan Dapaah has come under attack by some members of the party accusing him of taking back seat when the party was in opposition a claim he has denied indicating that it is only being peddled by his detractors to incite the grassroots of the party against him.
