Kumasi, Nov. 11, GNA - A local leader of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Kwabre West has urged the national executive to take bold and decisive measures to resolve a growing impasse among members of the Party in the constituency.

Mr Bejamin Owusu, former Kwabre West constituency Secretary of the NPP, said it was time the national executive came out firmly with the truth in order to curb existing factionalism in the party in the area. Addressing a press conference in Kumasi on Saturday, Mr Owusu said if not resolved, could make the NPP lose the constituency seat in the 2008 elections.

He said he was disheartened to note that the constituency, which had been built, unified and consolidated by the sweat and suffering of past executives and other meaningful citizens in the area, was crumbling as a result of selfish acts of few disgruntled people. "Looking at how we suffered to build the party and the state of affairs today, there is the need to put pressure on the leadership to put in measures to safeguard the seat for the party". He said it was sad that the national executive seemed to be helpless and continued to look on while the party was falling apart in the constituency.

Mr Owusu said posterity would not forgive the leaders if their actions led to the loss of the seat to other political parties and appealed to the national Chairman to "come out boldly and tell the truth" to ensure that peace prevailed in the constituency.
