NPP activists urged to redouble efforts to win more votes

Kumasi, Nov. 27, GNA - Mr Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu, Minister of State and Member of Parliament for Suame Constituency, has stressed the need for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) activists and supporters to redouble their efforts to win more souls for the party. He noted that the impending December 7 polls was crucial and that they should educate people about the achievements, policies and manifesto of the party to win more votes to ensure resounding victory for the party. Mr Mensah-Bonsu was addressing supporters of the party on Wednesday at Kronom and Abusuakruwa in his constituency in Kumasi to win their support. He said the NPP government in its eight year rule had engendered democratic dispensation and ensured rule of law, fundamental human rights, peace and progress of the country. Mr Mensah-Bonsu mentioned sound economic policies initiated by the government including the President's Special Initiative and Private Sector Development, National Health Insurance Scheme, free medical care to pregnant women as initiatives that had positive impact on the economy.

The Minister said there had also been a remarkable improvement in the provision of infrastructure including classroom blocks, desks, health centres, access roads and electricity in all communities in the constituency leading to an improvement in the living standards of the people. He said quite a number of students in all levels of education had benefited from scholarships from his share of the Common Fund to help promote education in the area.

Mr mensah-Bonsu assured the electorate that he would continue to be committed and dedicated to their welfare and asked for massive votes for him and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo- Addo in the December 7 polls. Mr Felix Amoah, a businessman, praised the government for the mass cocoa spraying exercise and said that had increased cocoa production to 700,000 tonnes as well as the foreign exchange earnings of the country. He commended the government for increasing the producer price of a bag of cocoa from 75 Ghana cedis to 120 Ghana cedis and hoped the gesture would go a long way to improve their livelihoods. Mr Ayisi Boateng, a founding member of the party advised all political parties and their supporters to use decent language in their campaigns to ensure a peaceful election. 27 Nov. 08
