The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has been advised to, for the sake of the country, involve in debates around the just-ended National Economic Forum.

The leading opposition party announced its boycott on the eve of the start of the Forum, which discussed tailored measures in an effort to address the country’s economic challenges.

But a Senior Lecturer at the University of Cape Coast, John Gatsi, who was also part of the 140 participants during the three-day Forum, underscored NPP’s role, saying though its members were not missed during deliberations at Senchi in the Eastern Region, they must play a role in discussions that are scheduled to follow in the coming weeks.

“NPP is a very important player in the affairs of the country,” Mr. Gatsi noted on TV3’s News 360 on Friday, May 16.

He said organizers of the Forum should go lengths to rope the NPP into post-Forum discussions.

The Chartered Financial Accountant observed that some of the measures agreed upon during the Forum will require debate in Parliament and it will be important for the Minority NPP, for instance, to make inputs.

He also advised the NPP, as a political party, to consider the plight of Ghanaians and get involved in discussions emanating from the Forum.
