NPP distributes ‘gotta’ sets to party folks instead of police - NDC

A member of the communications team of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Naziru Mohammed has dared elements in the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) to come clean on the distribution and provision of national security communications gadgets to the police administration.

The party has distributed gadgets to party folks instead of the personnel of the police service.

‘You get to town and people who have nothing to do with security are brandishing ‘gotta’ adding that the NPP distributed the gadgets like biscuits.

According to the NDC communicator who also an assistant to the presidential aspirant Dr. Spio-Gabrah; a former Minister for Trade and Industry under the immediate past John Dramani Mahama administration, the communications gadgets that the NDC while in government procured for the police administration has been retrieved from the police administration and distributed to NPP party folks.

He said NPP folks all over town are brandishing what most people popularly called ‘gotta’ at the detriment of the service officers who need it to communicate among themselves when they are fond wanting or under attack.

Alhaji Naziru made this comment on the ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ show hosted by Kwame Afrifa-Mensah on Accra-based Happy FM.

He challenged the NPP to come clean on the distribution of the national security communications gadgets to the party folks.

He said even the members of the dreaded Invincible Forces among other hooligan leadership brandish the communication sets anywhere they go as if they have been co-opted into the National security apparatus.

He claims he is not surprised the criminals are so emboldened by the lack of logistics for the police service under the NPP.

Why won’t the criminals overpower the police when they are aware the police personnel are not up to speed with their levels of sophistication.

A friend of mine told me he had a problem and visited a police station and as of the time of his visit, the personnel on duty had one AK 47 with no vehicle to enable him to move he stressed.
