Bolgatanga, Oct.21, GNA - The Upper East Regional branch of the New Patriotic Party on Thursday elected a nine-member executive with Alhaji Adbulai Abukari, the Upper East Regional Secretary of the Trade Unions Congress as the regional chairman of the party .
Alhaji Bawa polled 27 votes from the votes of the 71 delegates as against his fellow contestants, Mr. Jonathan Agmer, Mr. Bukari Bawa, Alhaji Seidu Syumani and Mr. Ben Baba Boka, who polled 22, 12, 10 and 3 respectively .
The first chairman went to Mr Tahiru Issahaku Hammed who polled 35 votes to beat, Mr Mohammed Mutala Ibrahim and Mr. Abdulai-Rahaman Guma, who got 23 and 11 votes respectively.
Mr. Kizito Kayomser got the second vice chairman. He was elected unopposed. Mr Godfred oyiba was elected as the secretary when he polled 35 votes to beat Mr Mohammed Tahiru who got 33 votes. The assistant secretary went to Mr. Alexanda Ayaga. He got 30 votes whereas Mr. Atampugre Richard Asaa and Agaanda Thomas got 27 and 13. The rest are Mr Edward Nchor, the regional treasurer. He polled 33 votes against Mrs Constance Apasinaba and Alhaji mMohammed Ahmed who got 28 votes and 9 respectively.
Mr Abddulai Mohammed Taminu emerged as the regional youth organiser with 18 votes, beating five other contestants Mr. Mohammed Mohammed who became the regional organiser got 38 votes to beat Mr Roland Darko with 28 votes.
Madam Hawa Narichima was elected the regional Womens Organise. The executive members were sworn in by the NPP National Organiser, Mr Lord Commmey.
He impressed upon the newly regional executives to work hard to justify the confidence reposed in them by enabling the party win in the 2008 elections.
The regional chairman, Alhaji Adbulai Bawa on behalf of the executive promised to work tirelessly for the party to win the 2008 elections.
The national chairman of the party, Mr Harona Esseku entreated party members not to be complacent but work hard to form a formidable front and unite to win more supporters.
He denounced rumours carried by some section of the media that there were some confrontation between factions of the NPP, stressing that, the NPP debates, criticize and finally come out to take a unanimous decision.
The election was conducted by the Regional EC director, Mr. Adams Iddrisu and supervised by the NPP national chairman and other national NPP executive.
