Deputy General Secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Obiri Boahen, has defended the performance of the government over the past one year.
His defense comes on the back of claims by the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) that the Akufo-Addo-led government has been sleeping on the job.
The PPP in a recent statement accused government of following the same path of corruption and bad governance as the previous John Mahama-led National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration.
According to the PPP, almost a year after assuming office, the NPP has not been able to fully fulfill a single campaign promise.
Reacting to these claims, Nana Obiri Boahen said the PPP’s position is laughable.
He told Class News that: “Honestly speaking, NPP has performed creditably well, NPP has done well. If you remove the political spectacle and you really want to be honest and sincere to yourself, you will realise that NPP has performed creditably well just within a matter of one year.
“So I disagree entirely with those who hold the view that nothing has changed. I believe that as human beings, once the party is human organised, human oriented, human controlled, eventually our people will be expecting that we should live up to a 100 per cent but depending on the angle you are looking at the achievements, in all honesty, the party has done well.”
