Akim-Ofoase, Jan. 10, GNA - The Ofoase-Ayirebi constituency branch of the NPP has held a non-denominational thanksgiving service at Akim Ofoase on Sunday to express their gratitude to the Almighty for the peaceful general elections last December.
Delivering the sermon, the Rev. Yanchisa Konadu of the Bethel Methodist Church, called for forgiveness and reconciliation among supporters of the various political parties for any electioneering campaign offences to help build a peaceful, united and stable society. He said, with the elections over, it was time for all Ghanaians, irrespective of their political affiliations, to tolerate each other and work to promote the right atmosphere for peace, stability and progress. The MP for the area, Mr David Oppon-Kusi, called for support from all to enable him to realize his aims and objectives, saying one of his priorities was to ensure that brilliant but needy children have access to education.
According to him, he already started sponsoring eight needy students in Senior Secondary Schools two years ago.
Mr Oppon-Kusi appealed to parents to ensure that they left a good legacy for their children by sacrificing to ensure that the children had quality education to be able to face the challenges of today's world. The Birim North District Chief Executive, Mr Victor Owusu-Ahenkorah, pledged to co-operate with the MP to ensure speedy development of the area.
The branch secretary of the NPP, Mr J.S. Mensah, called for unity among the people to promote their common good, adding it was his prayer that "all would experience the positive change which could come only if we are united and work hard."
Prayers were said for the nation, President J.A. Kufuor and his administration.
