Akwatia, Aug. 11, GNA - The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has called on its supporters at Akwatia not to allow themselves to be intimidated during the re-run of the parliamentary elections in six polling stations in the constituency on August 18.
Executive members of the party, who made the call at Akwatia said although the NPP abhor violence and expressed the hope of peaceful election, they would not allow their supporters to be bullied. The members, who made the call when they interacted with polling station chairmen at Akwatia, urged them to organise effectively to the make victory of NPP a foregone conclusion. The NPP leaders comprised Nana Ohene Ntow, General Secretary, Mr Lord Commey, National Organiser, Mr Yaw Osafo Maafo, former Minister in the Kufuor administration, Mr Hackman Owusu Agyeman and Member of Parliament for New Juaben North.
Mr Commey appealed to voters in the area to vote massively for the NPP to send a clear message to supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) that their government was disappointing Ghanaians by their performance.
Nana Ohene Ntow appealed to the security agencies to protect the electorate and prevent the incident on December 7, when ballot boxes and materials were vandalized. He said the party believed that the security agencies would protect the people and deal effectively with trouble makers.
