A senior lecturer at the University of Development Studies, Professor Aminu Alhassan has said the issue of mistrust which has manifested into violent clashed in the New Patriotic Party is a feature in every political party.

He reiterates that, "when these differences go to the extreme and translate into violence, then we say that something has gone terribly wrong with the party’’. He added that the recent wrangling in the New Patriotic Party will not impress floating voters to join the party.

Speaking on Kapital news, he said, "we cannot rule out the involvement of Alan-Nana factions in the issues arising in the New Patriotic Party, only that we have refused to call the issue by its name’’.

He said the current executives have to learn to relate with the rank and file in the party, stating that this is not the first time such a thing is happening in the NPP.

Prof. Aminu further advised NPP executives to handle their internal issues with diplomacy bearing in mind that they are the main opposition party in Ghana and are technically the government in waiting.

Meanwhile, Ashanti regional secretary of the ruling NDC Raymond Tandoh has however described the mayhem caused at the headquarters of the new patriotic party as "unfortunate and needless’’.

He blamed the general secretary of the NPP, Kwabena Agyapong for not getting other executives of the party involved in his decisions. He emphasized, "Kwabena Agyapong should get rid of his arrogance and power show play’’.

He stated that, the fact that NDC will still win the 2016 elections; a strong opposition is still needed’’.

He further added that, despite the issues of court injunctions being placed on their vetting, he was sure that "it will not escalate into machete drawing as it has in the NPP,’’ saying that everything is under control in the NDC.

He advised the general secretary and chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Mr. Kwabena Agyapong and Mr. Paul Afoko not to run the party as their personal property.
