NPP needs fresh ideas - Aspiring National Organiser

Accra, Nov. 8, GNA - Mr Iddrisu Musah Superior, an aspiring National Organiser of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), on Tuesday said the Party needed fresh ideas and a new crop of leadership to re-organise its machinery for Election 2008.

"I believe that fresh ideas and some level of dynamism are needed to support the Party's management and organization in preparedness for the next crucial elections," he said at a press launch of his campaign to contest the position.

"I am convinced that NPP will win Elections 2008, but the Party needs a strategic organizational planner, which I offer myself for," he said.

According to him, the Party was not in its best form at the moment. "The NPP is not in the best of shapes. Nobody should be deceived into thinking that everything is excellent; the party is disorganized, lacks proper programmes and activities and has weak administrative structures."

Mr Musah Superior said that the Party's offices throughout the country were not in good condition for effective administrative and organizational work, and described some regional offices as "open stores without space".

He cited the Party's recent defeats in the two by-elections of Asawase and Odododiodoo as ample evidence of the poor administrative and organizational inefficiencies of the Leadership.

"The Party is in credibility crisis. Let no one be disillusioned about it; the youth and foot soldiers are disgruntled," Mr Musah Superior said.

He criticised some Ministers of State, who had openly campaigned and supported aspiring candidates and described their action as potential danger against Party cohesion and unity.

Mr Musah Supperior called for drastic reform in the Party and set out the modalities for it. The modalities included computerization of all regional offices, setting up an effective and efficient communication network, establishing more branches outside the country and devising supervisory schedule for all regional organizers. He urged the delegates to cast their votes based on three principles of the candidates' ability to increase the Party's membership, prepare for elections and to set up an all time organizational machinery.

He said the NPP needed to concentrate its efforts on setting out a programme towards a massive victory in all elections and pursue a comprehensive and idealistic organizational plan for a vibrant and effective Party.

"We must ensure that the Party's structures are working for its acceptability by all Ghanaians, and we must also propagate the achievements of the government".
