NPP presser on Mahama's 'ATTP' tour laughable - Asiedu Nketia

General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia has described as waste of time the press conference organised by the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to respond to President Mahama’s request for Ghanaians to renew his mandate in the November 7 elections.

According to the NDC Chief Scribe “Some of the press conferences of the NPP including this one is funny because there is nothing in this press conference they organised.”

The opposition New Patriotic Party has taken strong exception to pronouncements made by President John Dramani Mahama in his ‘Accounting to the People’ tour to the effect that he is entitled to an automatic eight-year term in office under the 1992 Constitution.

According to the NPP, the President’s claim is a crude attempt to hoodwink unsuspecting Ghanaian voters into thinking that a president is entitled to an automatic eight years in office under the constitution.

The party argued that what the constitution provides in Article 66 (1) is that “[a] person elected as President shall hold office for a term of four years".

But commenting on NPP’s argument, General Mosquito as he is politically known said on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show that the opposition NPP is dazzled by President Mahama’s request for 8 years in power.

He believed that President Mahama has every right to ask Ghanaians to give him the second term to continue and accomplish his duties for Ghana.
