A lecturer at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), Lawyer John Darko who feels officials of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Suame Constituency are deliberately denying him the opportunity to access a nomination form to contest in the upcoming parliamentary primary in April has petitioned the regional office, MyNewsGh.com reports.

In his petition addressed to the party’s Ashanti Regional Chairman sighted by MyNewsGh.com, the Lecturer of Environmental Law at GIMPA law Faculty and Contract Management at the Business School said, “I am therefore by this petition, requesting your office to make available a copy of the nomination forms to me to enable me to contest the NPP primaries scheduled for 25th April 2020”.

He enumerated the steps he has taken to get the forms from the constituency office to the regional secretariat which have not yielded any fruits in his petition to Bernard Antwi Boasiako a.k.a Chairman Wontumi.

“On Monday 28th January 2020, I went to the Suame Constituency Office to pick up a copy of the nominations form only to be told that my constituency did not receive the forms. I came to the regional office and spoke with the Regional Secretary on phone; he admitted that the Suame forms are with the regional executives”.

“He assured me that a meeting would be held on Wednesday the 29th of January 2020 to consider my concerns. As at the time of writing this petition, one (1) clear week from the date I visited the office, I have not heard from your office concerning the said meeting”, John Darko wrote in his petition.

John Darko who was one of three contenders who fell to the incumbent Member of Parliament for the Suame Constituency, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu a.k.a ‘Suame Mugabe’ at the last parliamentary primary in 2015, seeks to defeat him this time round and would not succumb to any mafia tactics to exclude him for securing nominations form to contest the Majority Leader and Minister for Parliamentary Affairs.

“Please note respectfully, that time is of the essence so if I do not hear from you by close of business Wednesday, 5th February, 2020, I will assume that my petition has been denied and will petition the national office for a resolution”, Lawyer John Darko warned the Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako.
