Bice Osei Kuffour is former president of MUSIGA
Popular musician, Bice Osei Kuffour, also known as Obour, has conceded defeat to his opponent in the Asante Akim South parliamentary primary of the governing New Patriotic Party.
Speaking to local language radio station, Adom FM, after the keenly contested election, Obour said although he has lost the contest, he is committed to working with the winner, Kwaku Asante Boateng, the incumbent MP, to retain the seat for the NPP on December 7.
Speaking in Twi, he said the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) should prepare for a resounding defeat in the general elections.
Obour also said he will work to ensure his party in the Asante Akim South constituency beats the NDC parliamentary candidate by at least 10,000 votes in the December elections.
The former President of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) thanked the party delegates for giving him a chance to contest the slot.
In the NPP parliamentary primary held on June 20, 2020, Obour polled 296 votes while the incumbent MP, Kwaku Asante Boateng, won with 360 votes.
The other candidates, namely, Edmond Oppong Peprah, William Yamoah and Eric Amoah polled less than 60 votes in total.
