A flagbearer aspirant of the main opposition New Patriotic Party, Francis Addai Nimoh, says the leadership of the party must create a level playing field for all aspirants.

The Mampong Legislator is among five aspirants who have picked nomination forms so far. The others include two-time flagbearer Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo; former Information Minister, Stephen Asamoah-Boateng; former Member of Parliament (MP) for Offinso North, Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku and Asuogyaman MP, Kofi Osei-Ameyaw.

Other aspirants expected to join the race include former trades Minister Alan Kyeremanten; Subin MP Isaac Osei; heart surgeon Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng; Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament and MP for Essikado-Ketan, Joe Ghartey and Nyiaeso MP, Dr. Richard Anane.

Each aspirant will pay Ghc85, 000 in total as nomination and filing fee. An electoral college of about 150,000 will vote to elect one out of the final five candidates who will be given the green light by the party’s elders to contest after vetting.

Addai Nimoh, who is having a go at the slot for the first time, told Joy News it is important the leadership of the party gives all the aspirants a fair deal without skewing things in any particular candidate’s favour.

He also cautioned party supporters against running any of the candidates down during the internal campaign period.
