A deputy Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Anthony Abayifa Karbo, has said the party’s nationwide ‘Arise and Build Tour’ which was spearheaded by its flagbearer, Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo, was meant to bring the elephant family together after series of internal polls ahead of the 2016 general elections.

“It was important for the flagbearer to tour all the regions to make sure that all those who contested for positions in the party at the regional level and parliamentary positions come together and work towards winning power in 2016,” he told Serwaa Akoto on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.3 FM on Monday.

Karbo’s comment was in reaction to criticisms by the General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah that Nana Addo’s ‘Arise and Build Tour’ was to awaken party faithful that were fast asleep.

Commenting further, Karbo told Serwaa Akoto that the flagbearer’s tour was not the first time in the history of the elephant family as successive leaders had from time to time embarked on such exercise after series of internal polls to bring their members together.

“This is not the first time the flagbearer of the party is doing this. It is meant to unite the party at the constituency level. So we don’t know what Johnson Asiedu Nketiah is saying.”

The tour, he noted,  was very good and exciting; noting “it is a serious activity.”

He urged the citizenry to dispel the criticisms of Johnson Asiedu Nketiah since his argument had no basis.
