A member of the Council of Elders of the New Patriotic Party , George Ayisi Boateng, has charged party executives to deal with persons who openly vilify colleague party members.
He said the party should not be seen as unconcerned about the reputations of members who are maligned by attacks from within.
Leading party members are frustrated about growing cases of personality attacks ahead of the party's congress in March 2014.
The Party chairman, Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, in an open letter underscored: “We are our own worst enemies. The vitriol with which we conduct our internal elections gives our opponents all the ammunition they need to use against us.”
Former President Kufuor has also expressed fear that such attacks coming ahead of their congress to elect executives and later a flagbearer, could damage the party’s fortunes in future.
He was denouncing allegations made by NPP Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong, that the former President drove him out of his residence in 2007, for not backing the candidature of Alan Kyeremateng ahead of the 2008 elections.
A former Mfantseman West parliamentary candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) ,Stephen Asamoah Boateng, has also described the party's General Secretary, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie also known as Sir John, as the ‘hatchet man’ who cuts off those with dissenting views from the NPP.
But speaking to Joy News, George Ayisi Boateng wants party executive to "look out for people who will go astray and apply the party’s internal rules and deal with such persons, regardless of their stature in the party.
He believes this will bring sanity into the party.
