NPP to suspend Gt. Accra Chairman

Leading members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) are very angry at the way and manner the Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the Party, Mr. Ishmael Ashitey, has shown disrespect to the party’s national executives.

The national appeals committee of the NPP had, in their own wisdom, decided to clear some persons who had been disqualified.

One of the disqualified persons who had been cleared to contest, in Tema West constituency in the Greater Accra Region is Mr. Carlos Ahenkorah.

At a press conference addressed by Mr. Ashitey last Tuesday, he said the Greater Accra NPP was rejecting the decision of the national appeals committee to reverse their decisions of the Greater Accra Region NPP.

Speaking to the Daily Dispatch, one of the persons who intend to drag Mr. Ashitey to the NPP National Council said, “he must be suspended to ensure that this creeping indiscipline in the party must stop. If Mr. Ashitey is left to go scot free, what prevents constituency chairman from disobeying future instructions from regional or national executives?”

As at press time, there were credible reports that certain polling station executives in Greater Accra were planning how to punish their chairman.
