National Youth Organiser of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammy Awuku, is of the firm belief that the ever escalating tension in the party is temporary and that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
He asserts the NPP will “emerge stronger afterwards”.
“What the NPP is going through is temporary; it will not last. I am sure the NPP will come out stronger. The NPP will come out stronger to win 2016,” he remarked.
The internal wrangling in the NPP took a different turn when two set of security guards clashed over who controls the party office. The scuffle, which broke out between security guards appointed by the old executives and those appointed by the new executives, nearly turned bloody, but for the timely intervention of the police.
Speaking to the issue during a panel discussion on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo, Sammy Awuku assured that whoever was behind the ‘confusion’ would be fished out.
“It is strange a group of people will just assume a role at the head office without anybody’s authorisation,” he said.
Sammy Awuku was confident that ‘the order’ for new security guards did not come from any of the new executives and “so who authorised them to take over and that calls for an investigation, and so we are going to get to the bottom of it.”
“We will get to the bottom of it. Whoever authorised for the group to take over should be held responsible for the melee that occurred on Monday. Whoever called them (new security guards) did a great disservice to our party and its structures. For some time now we have been in the media for the wrong reasons and so what occurred was unnecessary,” Sammy Awuku asserted.
