NPP will win 6 Volta seats - Dan Botwe

Mon, 9 Aug 2004 Source: Chronicle

Mr. Dan Botwe, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) General Secretary has stated that the New Patriotic Party will win a minimum of 6 seats in the Volta region during the upcoming parliamentary election. According to him, the erroneous perception being peddled by certain political opponents of the NPP to the effect that upon assumption of office, the party would drive all Voltarians to Togo and would obtain visa before being allowed entry into Ghana, specifically Accra, was nothing than a flimsy lie.

He said the Voltarians had had a fair share of development projects undertaken by the ruling party, hence it would be vague for anybody to think they were being sidelined.

He further argued that no project had been halted as perceived some years back, citing the example of the constructions of the Worawora- Bleweya roads currently underway, adding that, ?the Keta sea defence project is still on course, we are not leaving any stone unturned.?

The General Secretary said the incumbent government has not discriminated against the people who did not vote for it in the last election but treated everybody fairly in terms of development.

He said the NPP was monitoring every movement of the opposition in the Volta Region.

The party secretary said in reaction to the confusion in some constituencies in the Volta Region over the candidature of some incumbent MPs, he said he was sure the NPP would make a difference, come December 2004, in the supposed world bank of the National Democratic Congress.

Mr. Botwe debunked the allegation that the party was sponsoring some constituencies in their primaries. He said the constituencies gave them the dates and they went to supervise. They did nothing more.
