The general secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party Kwabena Agyepong has predicted over 30% votes in the Volta region come the 2016 elections.
The Volta region, popularly known as the ‘World Bank’, has been the fortress of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) since 1992.
Speaking to party officials from the 26 constituencies in the NDC stronghold at the regional capital, Ho, Agyepong assured them of the preparedness of the flagbearer and leadership of the party to “match the NDC boot for boot in the 2016 elections.”
According to him, the party has put in place strategies and programmes aimed at ensuring visibility in the region. He urged party officers to eschew division and work towards attaining what he described as “achievable goal.”
The national chairman of the Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition, Paul Afoko, described 2016 as a “redemption mission”.
He said party officers have a major role to play in ensuring that Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP win the majority vote to form the next government to “save Ghana from the current mismanagement.”
The national officers are meeting party executives in the regional capitals to brief them on their strategies ahead of the 2016 general election.
