The Volta Regional Branch of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has said it is practically impossible for the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to win a single parliamentary seat in the region during the upcoming 2016 elections.

According to the NDC, it is working assiduously to ensure that it halves the votes that the NPP secured in the region during the 2008 and 2012 elections.

There are media reports about an NDC group in the Volta Region threatening to vote “skirt and blouse” in the 2016 election because the Regional Executives have schemed to protect incumbent Members of Parliament in the area.

It is anticipated that should the peeved members of this group carryout their threats of voting against their Members of Parliament, there NPP may be lucky to win a few seats out of the twenty two (22) constituencies in a region that continues to be tough electorally for the opposition part since it currently has no MP there.

However speaking to Fiifi Banson on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.3 FM, the Volta Regional Youth Organizer of the party, Egypt Kudotor refuted the claim insisting that the regional executives will continue to be fair in the discharge of their work and will not be bias into backing the sitting MPs.

He further dismissed the report of an insistence of any such group in the Volta Region, adding that the party will present a united from to trounce the NPP in the region.

“We are firmly on the ground and working very hard, the NPP will not secure even 5,000 votes in 2016, their performance next election will be poorer than in 2008 and 2012 elections”.
