Kumasi, July 1, GNA- Prophet Daniel Yaw Nkansah, Founder and Leader of the New Vision Party (NVP), has said that the party would put in place, comprehensive policies to promote the total well-being of the aged, if given the mandate in the 2008 elections. He was not happy about the continued deprivation of the aged of some basic incentives to enhance their development, by successive governments over the years.
He said this had limited their contribution to the socio-economic development of the nation in spite of their experience, expertise and knowledge.
Prophet Nkansah was speaking at a Congress of the party in Kumasi on Monday.
Leading members of the party took turns to address the congress on the party's vision, programme and plans for the nation, when given the mandate.
"In the abundance of the nation's rich natural resources Ghana continues to suffer as a result of bad economic policies and misplaced priorities, noting that, his party would up-hold good governance, respect for the fundamental human rights of the citizenry whiles pursuing prudent economic policies.
This, he noted, would help put the nation on the path to a socio-economic break-through to help achieve a middle-income status within the shortest possible time.
Prophet Nkansah challenged Ghanaians to resolve to reject gifts and other incentives from politicians aimed at inducing them to vote for them and their parties in the December elections.
"You should not sell your conscience because of money since that was tantamount to resigning yourselves to perpetual poverty, hunger, high rate of unemployment and nepotism", he said.
The Founder and Leader affirmed his party's resolve to harness the potentials inherent in the youth for the effective utilization of state resources and also fight corruption and bribery "that was dragging the nation back after over fifty years of independence".
