The Northern Youth for Peace and Development (NYUPED) has threatened to hit the streets if President John Mahama retains non performing caretaker ministers and District Chief Executives of northern extraction.

In the estimation of NYUPED, majority of government appointees from the north have failed to deliver the first phase of the Better Ghana agenda for which reason they should be replaced.

“We are saying that if the President really wants to serve his people then he has to make sure that he puts certain people who will not use their office to amass wealth; everybody knows that most of the former ministers have mansions in Accra, none of them have even one single room in Tamale or where they are coming from.”

In a statement signed by Prince Hardi Adams, Executive Director of the Northern Youth for Peace and Development, he alleged that majority of them used their positions to enrich themselves rather than solving the numerous challenges confronting the northern region.

The Northern Youth for Peace and Development therefore expects President Mahama to appoint ministers and DCE’s who are capable of bringing development to the people.

“That is why the Northern Youth for Peace and Development is cautioning the President that if he is going to go the same way this time around, we are ready to come out and demonstrate against him; if the President is going to elect a DCE, he should look at his background and should also listen to the youth to help him appoint people who are ready to dialogue with the people to solve their problems.”
