President John Dramani Mahama has described as “old” the campaign being run by the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
According to the leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the promise of ‘1-district, 1-factory’, ‘1-village, 1-dam’ and the like are old campaign methods. He says there is no breakdown of those policies, making them difficult to understand.
“[Maybe] when his manifesto comes, I will understand what he is talking about.” President Mahama made this observation on Metro TV’s Good Evening Ghana on Tuesday, September 6.
He said going by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s spate of promises, he can say that the NDC is implementing a ‘1-district, 1-hospital’ in Ghana given the number of health facilities under construction across the nation.
“It is an old campaign,” he stressed, saying that is what was done in times past.
Modern campaign should tell how those promises can be done, President Mahama said.
He mentioned Nana Akufo-Addo’s Free SHS policy as an example of an “old campaign” as how that policy will be implemented was not made known.
President Mahama said what the NDC is doing is more than “one-this, one-that”.
