Former flagbearer of the defunct Independent People’s Party (IPP) now Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) Percival Kofi Akpaloo has warned that the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) risked witnessing a divided youth front if a better replacement is not gotten for Sammie Awuku, current National Youth Organiser of the party.

He observed that the vigor and enthusiasm Mr. Awuku injected into the party’s youth taking over from Anthony Abayifaa Karbo, needs to be given same attention indicating that a person with a vast knowledge and experience in student politics should be considered for the post.

“If you ask me the best person to replace Sammie Awuku as National Youth Organiser of the NPP will be Henry Nana Boakye affectionately called Nana B. He is very intelligent and knows how to talk to people. Politics is all about communication and you need somebody who is at par with Sammie Awuku not any other person below the belt”, he observed.

According to him, the role of a National Youth Organizer is not restricted to only Ghana but sometimes on international assignments and persons who are not intellectually matured could end up embarrassing the party.

“He is affable, intelligent proven he knows what he is about and can lead the youth front to champion their course unlike some of the hopefuls I have seen who think youth leadership is all about making noise in the media and that is it”, he stated.

Whereas he see it as their right to contest, Mr Akpaloo put his bet on Nana B stating that he has over the period demonstrated he has the capabilities to handle people, wine and dine with the elderly and above all is a grassroots persons.

“He is always on point and show some level of respect in his dealing even with people who do not like him”, he added.

Dominic Kwesi Eduah, Nana Poku Frefre, Kwame Baffoe aka Abronye DC, Nana Boakye, Sampson K. Nimako, Abdulai Kamal Deen, and several loyalists are shopping around to replace Awuku as the party’s next National Youth Organizer.
