Nana Konadu Proclaims Was Not Forced Into NDP

Former first lady and flagbearer of the National Democratic Party, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings says she was not forced into the new party but was approached, and studying their objectives and believing in it, made her join the NDP.

Speaking to Radio Ghana, Mrs Rawlings said her decision to leave the NDC was not difficult because the NDC is no longer going according to the objectives that the party was built on.

Mrs Rawlings said her decision to lead the NDP is not intended to spoil the fortunes of the ruling NDC but to open a door devoid of corruption.

On the issue of how the NDP was able to get supporters to the congress grounds, Mrs Rawlings rejected claims that people were hired to fill the congress grounds.

She said they were all NDP supporters.

Commenting on the resignations that hit the party recently, Mrs Rawlings said she is not perturbed by any of such issues.

Mrs Rawlings also added that her husband, former President Rawlings will continually join her on her campaign trail.

She said details of choosing a running mate and kick starting her campaign will soon be made public.
