Elders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have sternly warned party members who secretly work against Nana Akufo-Addo, the presidential candidate to desist from that practice.

Speaking on behalf of the rest of the elders, Madam Ama Busia stressed the need for every party member to support the cause of the NPP.

“Don’t do anything to sabotage the NPP or its presidential candidate. Let us unite and campaign to ensure victory for the NPP in 2016,” she entreated.

She stated that the NPP’s prime wish is to increase its votes in all the 275 constituencies of the country in order to win the next elections.

Madam Busia pointed out that any party member that doesn’t support the goal of the NPP should see himself or herself as an enemy of the party.

After eight years in opposition, she stated that 2016 presents the best opportunity for the NPP to return to power.

She however, noted that the NPP could not win the next elections on a silver platter, adding that hard work and unity would ensure victory for. Madam Busia gave the remarks when she was addressing NPP delegates during the party’s 15th Annual Extraordinary National Delegates’ Congress at Sunyani in the Brong-Ahafo Region.

She said it was clear that President Mahama and his NDC government had failed to deliver “but the NPP cannot win political power solely on the NDC’s mistakes.”

Madam Busia was sad that ex-President Kufuor’s good works had been destroyed by President Mahama, who had displayed weak leadership.

She emphasised that the citizenry are looking up to the NPP to rescue them in 2016, indicating that the party could not afford to fail the country and its people.

Madam Busia reiterated her call on NPP members to unite, stressing that the NPP has the potential of ousting the NDC from power.

Meanwhile, the 10 regional chairmen of the NPP have pledged their unflinching support for the party’s hierarchy to ensure victory in 2016.

According to them, they had put in place effective strategies that would enable the party to increase its votes across the 10 regions.
